CWID 2006 - Scenario 6

Ottawa RDD Detonation

Date:
June, 2006
Location:
Ottawa, ON, Canada
Type:
Simulation with generated and real data
Role:
Provide surveillance and radiological situational awareness
Scenario:
Radiological Dispersal Device (RDD) detonation debris is detected by Mobile Detect equipment deployed statically in downtown Ottawa. None is detected by the Radiological Security System at the Ottawa International Airport (real-time, live data). The Analysis of Sensor inputs to the Radiological Surveillance System indicates the presence of a moving radiological plume. Resulting information is used to establish a safe perimeter zone, evacuation routes, decontamination station sites, fire equipment approach routes, non-sensor equipped 1st responder escort, and ongoing 'ground truth'.

Scenarios:
1. Colorado Springs, RED/RDD Fabrication
2. San Diego RED deployment
3. Atlanta RDD detonation
4. Airplane Hijacking, radiation detected on board
5. Kansas RDD Search
6. Ottawa RDD detonation
7. Colorado Springs, real alleged RED deployments
